4x100 team sets school record

After several weeks of close calls, the New Prague High School boys 4x100- meter relay team of Peter Molitor, Ben Hendrickson, Jordan Lein, and JT Butler broke the school record with a time of 43.69 seconds at the State Class AA Track and Field Meet Friday, June 7, at Hamline University in St. Paul.

While the team did set the record, they did not qualify for the finals in the event. Still, coach Nick Meyer said the team performed very well.

“The four ran fast with smooth, clean hand-offs all around,” Meyer said. “They cut nearly a half-second off of the team's previous season best and topped the old school record by more than three-tenths of a second.

“ All six boys, including alternates Foster Syvongsay and Josh Polson, had a great week of practice leading up to the state meet. They showed up fired up and ready to go each day, and they rehearsed very well, putting themselves in a great position to compete at their best on Friday.
