Absentee ballots are available for elections

Absentee ballots are available now through Monday, Nov. 7, for the November 8 New Prague Area School Board election and city elections in New Market and Lonsdale.

Residents can request an absentee ballot application if they will be absent from the precinct on election day, if they are a member of the armed forces, or are the spouse or dependent of a member of the armed forces, if they cannot come to the precinct because of an illness or disability or for observance of a religious holiday, if they are serving as an election judge in another precinct on the day of the election, or are temporarily outside the United States.

A resident may apply on behalf of another voter if they are the spouse, parent, brother, sister or child age 18 or older of the voter.

Absentee ballots will be available at the New Prague Area Schools District Office, 111 West Main Street, New Prague, MN 56071, during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The district office will be open for absentee voting from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, and on Monday, Nov. 7, until 5 p.m., as required by state law. Absentee voting applications will not be processed on Election Day.

Applications for absentee ballots are available at the district office or can be downloaded from the district website, at www.np.k12.mn.us. A resident can request that an application be mailed to them by calling Margaret Sticha at 952-758-1703.

School district residents who live in the city limits of New Market or Lonsdale must request an absentee ballot through their city hall, since there are also municipal elections being held that same day.
