Accident causes power outage

A power outage was reported to the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative dispatch center at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10. According to MVEC, the outage affected 1,132 member residences and businesses. The outage was caused by a vehicle sliding off the icy road and striking a power pole which brought down a power line that feeds into the Rice Lake Substation. The substation is  located at Co. Rd. 3 and Co. Rd. 26 just east of Montgomery.

MVEC dispatched service crews who quickly worked to replace the pole and re-energize the line. Power was restored by 10:27 p.m.
