Adapted floor hockey tops Blazing Cats

The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team went to 2-0 on the season with an impressive win over the Burnsville/Farmington/ Lakeville Blazing Cats. New Prague won the contest, played Wednesday, Jan. 18, by a 9-2 score.

“Overall we played extremely well today,” Coach Shellie Kriha said. “But our defense is what really stuck out tonight. Noah Hayden had a great game in net, stopping 18 of 20 shots. Our defense shut down a couple of very good players from Burnsville that beat us last year.

“We really like what we are seeing from our team so far this year, we have some tough games coming up, but we have been playing really well and the new players are really starting to pick things up.”

The team, which includes players from New Prague, Tri-City United, Le Sueur- Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan schools, was scheduled to face Owatonna Monday, Jan. 23, and host Dakota United Wednesday, Jan. 25. Their next game is Wednesday, Feb. 1, against St. Paul Humboldt.
