Adeline (nee VanCura) Meskan

Adeline (nee VanCura) Meskan, a resident of St. Louis Park, MN since 1952, passed away May 12 at home. She was born Feb 24, 1925 in New Prague to parents Dr. Thomas W. and Bessie Dobihal VanCura.

Survived by son Thomas (Alexandra); grandchildren John MacIver Meskan and Madeleine Taylor Meskan and 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Leonard F. Meskan and brothers William R. (Pat) VanCura, Harold T. (Mary) VanCura & Raymond T. VanCura.

Adeline was a certified administrative Professional (CAP) in the St. Louis Park Schools Special Education Offices for 22 years. She retired in 1992 after serving on many districtwide committees including the Project ’85 Long Term Plan and the Technology Staff Development Committee.

She served on the board of directors of the Park Schools Credit Union for 25 years. Adeline was a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals for 24 years, and the Institute of Noetic Sciences and the World/Minnesota Future Societies for 20 years.

She was a participant in the Reflective Leadership in Public Policy Program, Humphrey Institute at the U of M as well as the MN Dept. of Education Whole Mind Learning Project. She served on the Block Captains Advisory Council and as an active participant as Block Captain in the St. Louis Park Community- Oriented Police Program.

Adeline was the owner of People Design Systems and was well-known for her poetry and creative writing. She was an avid leisure bicyclist, hiker and cross-country skier.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 3:30 PM Tuesday, May 16 at the Church of the Holy Family, 5900 W. Lake St., St. Louis Park. Visitation at church 1/2 hour before Mass. Int. Ft. Snelling. Gearty-Delmore 952-926-1615 gearty-delmore.com
