Aging Services reports phone scam

A phone scam is making its way around Montgomery.

According to the Montgomery Police Department, females saying they represent Aging Services of Montgomery, have called residents asking for money. Officer Pete Bulger and Karen Hiscox of Aging Services of Montgomery, confirmed these phone calls are a scam.

“We don’t do these types of calls,” Hiscox said.

She said the callers identify themselves as a fundraising technician or liaison for Aging Services and don’t provide their name.

Hiscox became aware of the scam when the residents began complaining at the Montgomery office. When she heard of the calls being made, she contacted Aging Services of Minnesota that confirmed they do not solicit over the phone.

“These callers are just using our name,” Hiscox said. “I just want it to stop before someone gives them money.”

If you receive a call requesting money for Aging Services, call the Montgomery Police Department at 507-364-8000 or 507-364-7700.
