Ann A. Simon, age 92

Ann A. Simon, age 92 of Lonsdale, passed away June 19, 2016 at Reflections of Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Ann was a member of the IC CCW, FCSLA and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Her life of faithfulness to the Lord and family was her legacy to her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Attending Mass, praying the rosary and daily prayers were very important parts of Ann’s life. Ann was born on March 18, 1924 to George A. and Anna Smisek Skluzacek. Ann married Ray Simon on September 14, 1943 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. They settled on a farm near Lonsdale where they raised their 8 children. Ann was a dedicated dairy farm wife until 1985 when she and Ray moved to their home in Lonsdale. Ann was very active in the Catholic church, school and 4-H activities. She was a talented homemaker, seamstress, gardener, cook and baker. Ann preserved and canned many jars of her produce for the winter months. She was well known for her poppy seed buctha. Her home became the gathering place of numerous celebrations. She enjoyed playing euchre, crocheting, embroidery and quilting. Ann spent many hours making beautiful gifts for her family, doilies for new brides, pajamas, afghans, and baby quilts for the grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ray; son Steve; infant son; sister, Stella Jirik; brothers, George and Myles; brother-in-law, Frank Jirik; sister-in-law, Lillian Skluzacek. Ann is survived by children, Ray (Marlene), Tom (Janet), Mike (Sandie), Dick (Roxanne), Mary (Darl Rah), Tony (Mary), Joe (Sandy); daughter-in-law, Marcia; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; sisterin- law, Marion Skluzacek; siblings, Elsie (George Tupy), Jim (Joanie) Skluzacek; and by many loving relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian burial was at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 116 Alabama St., Lonsdale, with visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. prior to Mass at the church. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at White Funeral Home, Lonsdale, MN. In lieu of flowers memorials to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Webster, MN. White Funeral Home Lonsdale 507-744-2368
