Arrest made in two burglaries

New Prague police have arrested a 26-year-old New Prague man for burglary and possession of stolen property in connection with the breakins at two New Prague bars last week.

The man was arrested late Friday afternoon, Dec. 21, in connection with the two burglaries that occurred early that morning. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly wearing clothing that matched the clothing seen in a video surveillance camera during the break-in at JT’s Hideaway. In addition, other clothing was found in his apartment that matched the surveillance video and property that was stolen from the City Club Bar.

The suspect is currently in the Scott County Jail, and charges were expected to be filed Wednesday, Dec. 26, after this edition of The New Prague Times went to press. The Times does not name suspects until formal charges are filed.

Police are also investigating whether the suspect was involved in a similar burglary in the early morning hours of December 14 at the Corner Bar.
