Author includes Union Hill ballpark in new book

Author Todd Mueller was at Don Giesen Field in Union Hill Wednesday, June 15, signing autographed copies of his new coffee table book, “Town Ball Parks of Minnesota.”

The book, he explains, explores the heritage of the state's unique, historic and most-beloved ballparks. “Town Ball Parks of Minnesota” features 27 ballparks, ranging from a multi-million dollar sports complex to a rural field, miles from any city and at the end of a dirt road -- arguably the state's most-remote ballpark.

Several times he interrupted the conversation to point out some of the things he likes about the Union Hill Ballpark.

“Look at that sunset,” he said, pointing toward the leftcenter field fence. “It’s a great view.”

Mueller said he spent 10 years working on the book, combing through thousands of photos to come up with the right shots he needed to illustrate the book. The book includes a little history and trivia on each of the ballparks.
