Authorities investigating man’s death

The Elko New Market Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the death of a 38-year-old male in Elko New Market.
 
According to a press release from the Elko New Market Police Department at 7:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Elko New Market Police Department and Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical call along the 300 block of St. Mary’s Street in Elko New Market. According to the call a male was found not breathing. It was reported the man had used heroin the night before. The caller said they were performing CPR on the victim.
When Elko New Market Police and Fire personnel arrived they found the male unconscious and not breathing.  Life saving measures were performed, but were unsuccessful and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office was called and responded to the scene. The medical examiner’s office will be performing an autopsy on the male. The name of the victim has not been released at this time until all of the next of kin has been notified by the medical examiner’s office. See more in the print edition.
