Baedke wins conference cross country championship
Tri-City United runner Delilah Baedke, a seventh-grader, added to her great season by winning the Minnesota River Conference girls individual championship on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Baylor Regional Park in Norwood Young America.
Baedke became the first Tri-City United runner from either boys or girls teams to win the conference title. The young runner completed the Baylor Park course in a time of 19:56.
Baedke¹s teammate, Jaylee Hanvelt, also finished in the top five, placing fourth with a time of 20:31.
Freshman runner Hugo Ruiz was also a top-five finisher for the Titan boys, placing fourth with a time of 17:20.
The Titan girls and boys teams both placed fourth, in competition with other conference squads from Belle Plaine, Jordan, Le Sueur Henderson, Mayer Lutheran, Sibley East and Norwood Young America.
The TCU girls also had good races from Kathleen Pichotta (21st), Joslyn Vargo (27th), Grace Factor (28th), Erica Jackson (30th) and Lauren Miller (38th).
Number two runner for the boys was Hunter Rutt, who placed 22nd in 19:08. Also finishing for the Titans were Jackson Vosberg (26th), Jack Dooley (28th), Austin Antony (30th), Josh Pichotta (33rd) and Taylor Jackson (38th).
In the junior varsity competition, TCU had another first place finisher in sophomore Sarah Novak, who broke the tape in 22:22 to win the girls race. Josh LeBrun was the top finisher for the Titan JV boys, placing seventh in 19:54.
