Baseball Trojans start season with pair of wins

The New Prague Trojan baseball team opened its season with a pair of wins last week, defeating Farmington 7-6 and Northfield 4-1. A game at Shakopee scheduled for Friday, April 8, was postponed to Saturday, April 23.

New Prague hosts Rochester Mayo at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, and will travel to Andover for a noon game on Saturday, April 16. The Trojans open their Wright County Conference schedule with a pair of home games next week, with Waconia on Monday, April 18, and Holy Family on Tuesday, April 19. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.

Trojans 7, Tigers 6 New Prague took a big lead and then held on to defeat Farmington 7-6 on a cold and wet afternoon Thursday, April 7.

New Prague struck quickly, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Alex Gregor and Taylor Lambrecht both drew two-out walks, then Nathan Berg hit a two-run triple to put the Trojans up 2-0.
