Big crowd shows up for park celebration
Saturday was a day of celebration as Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park near New Prague held a grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting during the park’s annual Midsummer Festival.
The park closed last August and reopened earlier this year for renovation. Included in the construction were new trails, an expanded beach area, a new entry area and improvements to other facilities, making the park more accessible.
Prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Patty Freeman, Scott County Park Manager, introduced various elected officials, parks commissioners and other officials and staff members who played key roles in the project.
She also recognized K. A. Witt Construction of New Prague, the general contractor for the project, as well as a number of volunteers who helped define the scope of the project.
Boe Carlson, superintendent of the Three Rivers Park District, which operates the county-owned park, said the "grand revisioning of this park is a wonderful day."
