Bluejays, Coyotes take wins over Trojans

The New Prague High School wrestling team proved to be gracious hosts Tuesday, Dec. 19, as two Section 2AA foes, Waseca and Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center went home with wins over the Trojans.

The Trojans are now 5-7 on the season. They will be in action Friday, Dec. 29, at the Montevideo Tournament. On Friday, Jan. 5, they travel to Mountain Lake for a three-team meet with Windom/Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin and Scott West.

In the first match of the evening, New Prague faced Waseca. Aaron Redding avenged a loss from three days earlier by earning a major decision over Matt Flintrop of Waseca at 112 pounds. Flintrop had beaten Redding by major decision at the Maple River Invitational.

Waseca won the next seven matches before the Trojans' Roger Sirek scored a late reversal to win his match at 160 pounds. Kevin Olson was the only other Trojan winner, taking his 171-pound match by forfeit.
