Boundary proposal topic of Nov. 18 meeting

Two meetings have been scheduled on the proposed boundary changes for elementary schools in the New Prague Area School District.

The plan, developed by the school board and administration, will balance the enrollment within the three elementary schools in the district. Without a change, the enrollment at Eagle View Elementary is expected to exceed that building's capacity by next year.

The first meeting for parent and community feedback on the proposal will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at Eagle View Elementary School. The second meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Falcon Ridge Elementary School in New Prague. This will be a joint meeting for Raven Stream and Falcon Ridge families.

The proposal includes three changes in boundaries. (See map)

• Students currently attending Eagle View who live south of Rice County Road 6 will be switched to Falcon Ridge.

• Students currently attending Raven Stream who live east of Le Sueur County Road 164 will be transferred to Falcon Ridge

• Students currently attending Falcon Ridge who live east of Highway 13 will be moved to Eagle View.

At the meetings, school board members will give a presentation, which will be followed by a time for questions. The board is planning to make a final decision at its December 13 meeting.
