Boys 4x100 cruises to win; boys 4th in Missota
The boys 4x100-meter relay team of Peter Molitor, Ben Hendrickson, Jordan Lein and JT Butler cruised to a Missota Conference championship, finishing just twotenths of a second shy of the school record Thursday, May 23, in Chanhassen.
The Trojan boys placed fourth as a team, with a number of New Prague athletes turning in season-best and personal best performances.
Besides the 4x100 team, one other Trojan earned allconference. That was Zach Jones, who took second in the triple jump with a personal record of 42-feet.
Blake Wooten earned Honorable Mention Honors in both the 3200m and 1600m with a pair of third place finishes, while Ben Hendrickson was third in the 100.
Other Trojans placing at the meet: The 4x400 relay team of Lucas Binger, Dakota Greenwalt, Jones and Thomas Widmer was third.
Placing fourth was Travis Wick (shot put) and a pair of relays, the 4x200 (Binger, Widmer, Drew Schoenbauer and Conner Wagner) and the 4x800 (Greenwalt, Josh Dvorak, Carter Dorzinski and Wyatt Midtvedt).
Taking fifth was Josh Polson (100 m and 400 m), Zach Dietz (3200 m), Hendrickson (pole vault) and Jones (long jump).
Sixth place finishers were Greenwalt (800 m), Butler (110 hurdles) and Widmer (high jump).
Taking seventh were Lein (100 m), Binger (400 m), Dietz (1600) and Schoenbauer (triple jump).
Farmington won the championship with 192 points, followed by Chanhassen (159), Chaska (137), New Prague (126), Shakopee (82), Red Wing (71), Northfield (68), and Holy Angels (62).
The Trojans are competing this week in the Section 2AA championships. Preliminaries and finals in four events were held on Wednesday, May 29, with the rest of the finals scheduled for Friday, May 31, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. Teams competing will be Buffalo, Chanhassen, Chaska, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Holy Family Catholic, Hutchinson, Mankato East, Mankato West, Marshall, Mound Westonka, New Prague, New Ulm, Shakopee, Waconia and Worthington.
