Boys dominate final home meet

The New Prague Trojan boys track and field team hosted a "Last Chance" Invitational Tuesday, May 24, at Trojan Stadium and came out on top of the five-team field.

The meet was a chance for the JV athletes to compete one last time and shoot for personal records, and for varsity athletes, it was a chance to improve their marks and see some final competition prior to the Section 2AA meet. The meet was stopped early due to a thunderstorm, wiping out three track events and leaving several field events incomplete.

New Prague had an impressive 228.625 points to win the meet, well ahead of second place Waconia, with 164.75. Waseca was third at 86, followed by Kasson-Mantorivlle (64.875) and Trinity School with 42.75.

Of the 14 events that were completed, the Trojans took first place in eight of them and second in five others. First place finishes came from Caleb Smith (100 m., 11.57 seconds), Eric Chromy (110 hurdles, 16.45), Robert Beaudette (200 m., 23.97), Wyatt Midtvedt (800 m., 2:00.45), Erik Skie (discus, 146 feet, 8.75 inches), Alex Torp, pole vault, (13-0), Nic Arguedas (triple jump, 39- 4.25) and the 4x100 relay (Arguedas, Elijah Parker, Gaige Giles and Christian Velishek, 45.1)
