Boys fall to Eagles, Lakers

After starting the season 12-0, the New Prague Trojans lost two out of three games last week. They are now 13-2 and ranked No. 9 in Class AAAA.

New Prague lost to Eden Prairie on Tuesday, Jan. 17, defeated Delano (No. 2, Class AAA) Friday, Jan. 20, and lost to Prior Lake Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Trojans were scheduled to face Hutchinson Tuesday, Jan. 24, their first home game in more than a month. They will return to the road Friday, Jan. 27, at Waconia. Their next home game is Friday, Feb. 3, against Holy Family Catholic.

Eagles 55, Trojans 49 New Prague trailed for most of the game by as many as 10 points, but a secondhalf comeback put them up by four points late in the game before Eden Prairie regained control and claimed a 55-49 win.

New Prague had a cold shooting night - going 0-for- 10 from three-point range. Once Eden Prairie regained the lead in the final minutes, they made their free throws and claimed the win over the Trojans. 

New Prague shot 45 percent from the field and 92 percent from the free throw line. Rebounds were even, with the Eagles having a slight edge.

Zach Hanson led the Trojans with 14 points, while Jacob Washa and Tylar Lindell had 10 each. Also scoring were Jacob Milinkovich with 7, Jared Milinkovich with 6 and Somto Eneh with 2.

Jacob Washa had seven assists for the Trojans, Hanson had six rebounds and Lindell five.

Trojans 63, Tigers 52 Just as they had three nights earlier, the Trojans trailed early in this game by as many as 14 points, but they finished the first half strong and led by four at halftime. They continued to build on that lead to claim a 63-52 win over a highly-ranked Delano squad.

New Prague’s defense held Delano to just 30 percent shooting, including one of 12 from three-point range. New Prague dominated the inside, with 44 of their 63 points coming from inside the paint. The Trojans had a 34-27 edge in rebounding. Hanson had...
