Boys show improvement at Montgomery

The New Prague Trojan boys cross country team placed 11th of 32 teams at the Montgomery-Lonsdale Invitational Thursday, Sept. 9, at Montgomery

Coach Nick Meyer said the team ran well, though they fell just short of the goal of finishing in the top 10.

Junior John Geiger led the way for the Trojans, capturing 27th place and dropping more than a minute from the time that he ran on the same course last fall. Zach Dietz showed the most improvement of any Trojan, finishing nearly two-and-a-half minutes better and also setting a personal record for a 5K race. Josh Dvorak also set his personal record, breaking the 20-minute mark for the first time.

In the JV race there were no team scores kept, but the boys showed marked improvement from last season. Returning runners Josh Wehseler and Joe Forberg both dropped nearly two minutes from their 2009 performances and provided great leadership for a young team.

This was a good start for us. We are placing our focus on getting better compared to last season and from meet to meet
