Boys skate past Wingers, 3-0
The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team upped its record to 3-0 on the young season with a 3-0 win over Red Wing Tuesday, Dec. 5.
New Prague dominated the first period, outshooting the Wingers 25-9. But they only were able to get one goal, at 10:01 of the second period, with Jack Kreutzian scoring, on assists form Luke Witt and Caleb Smith.
Red Wing turned up the pressure in the third, and shots were even in the final 17 minutes, at 9-9, but the Trojans got the only two goals of the period.
Jake Lee scored, on assists from Frank Ruzicka and Bryce Simon at 5:39, and Blake Woodson scored on a Witt assist at 14:14.
Collin Dorzinski had a solid game in goal, earning his first career shutout, stopping 18 shots. New Prague outshot Red Wing 34-18.
"We played a solid, threeperiod game. We didn’t take many shifts off," said Trojan Coach Chris Lonke.
"This was the second game in a row we limited our opponent to less than 20 shots on goal."
In addition to Dorzinski’s first career shutout, Lee and Kreutzian each had their first varsity goals in the game.
