Boys take 2nd at TCU Invitational

 

The TCU boys track and field team was finally given nice weather for an outdoor meeting on Saturday, April 27 when they held their TCU Invitiational.
 
“The boys took advantage of it by placing second in the eight-team invitational,” said coach Brian Mikel.
 
The Titans finished with 121 points to place 2nd.  Belle Plaine  was the champion with 145.5 points. Le Sueur-Henderson was 3rd with 84.5 points, Mankato Loyola 4th with 82, Jordan 5th with 57, Janesville Waldorf Pemberton was 6th with 25, Medford was also 6th with 25 and Trinity was 8th with 18 points.
 
“Overall I thought we had a pretty good day. We still have a way to go with our conditioning and fine tuning our field events,” the coach said. “We would like to thank all of the parents who helped out to make this meet a success.  A special  thanks to Don Marcussen for timing the meet.  A special thanks to Waste Management  as well for their help and support.  It is greatly appreciated.”
 
Among the TCU highlights:
The 4x800-meter relay team of Marty McGuire, Mitch Dooley, Max Arroyo, and Thomas Franek finished 2nd with a time of 8:57.  
 
John Christian won the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.52, and Carter Rynda was 4th in that race in a time of 17.74. 
 
Christian took 6th in the 100m dash in a time of 12.07.  
 
The 4x200 meter relay team of Kelly Nordling, Jamison Beulke, Hunter Factor, and Tadd Stasney was third in a time of 1:38.9.
 
Ben Pichotta place 6th in the 1600 with a time of 5:12.
 
The 4x100m relay team of Christian, Michael McCrady, Aaron Chimal, and John Hanek finished 2nd in a time of 48.32. Stasney finished 5th in the 400m dash in a time of 56.89, and Rynda won the 300m hurdles in a time of 44.89 seconds.   McGuire won the 800m run in a time of 2:10, and Arroyo took 4th in that race in a time of 2:15.
 
Factor  took 6th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.79, and Mic Khonert took 6th in the 3200m in a time of 11:43.
 
The 4x400 meter relay team of Stasney, Rynda, Arroyo and McGuire took 2nd in a time of 3:41.
 
McCrady won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 5 inches. Rynda took 4th in the long lump with a leap of 18 feet, 5 inches. 
 
The triple jumpers had a nice day despite some injuries. Scott McCabe was 2nd with a leap of 39 feet, 5 inches, and Buelke jumped 38 feet, 10 inches for 4th. Nordling jumped 38 feet, 8 inches for a 5th place finish.
 
McCabe won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches, and Nordling was 3rd with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches. 
 
Jordan Trnka was 5th in the shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 7 inches. Kyle Ellingsworth had a personal best in the discus with a toss of 117 feet, 1 inch for an 8th place finish.
