Boys take six firsts at Red Wing

The New Prague High School boys track and field team competed in a fourteam meet at Red Wing Friday, April 26, taking second. Farmington won the meet with 192 points, followed by New Prague (113), Red Wing (85) and Plum City, WI (24).

The Trojans had six first place finishes, two of them by Zach Jones, who won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 9.5 inches, and the triple jump at 39-11. Ben Hendrickson won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet, and was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team with Peter Molitor, Jordan Lein and JT Butler, with a time of 35.22 seconds. Josh Polson won the 100 in 11.78 and Thomas Widmer won the high jump, clearing 6 feet.

Second place: Zach Dietz, 3200 m., 10:21.43; 4x400 relay (Jones, Dakota Greenwalt, Greg Vogel, Widmer), 3:43.12; 4x800 relay (Dakota Greenwalt, Dietz, Josh Dvorak, Jason Erickson), 8:55.97

Third place: Dvorak, 3200 m., 10:34.52; Molitor, long jump, 17-10; Widmer, triple jump, 38-11

Fourth place: Hendrickson, 100 m, 11.98; Polson, 400, 54.04; Dakota Greenwalt, 800 m,. 2:09.24; Wyatt Midtvedt, 1600, 4:55.71; Carter Dorzinski, 3200, 10:37.12; Butler and Goy Kang, tied in high jump, 5-4; Eli Breiner, pole vault, 9-5; Lein, long jump, 17-9.5

Fifth place: Tony Smith, 1600 m., 4:56.58; Austin Greenwalt, 300 hurdles, 46.35; Alex Torp, pole vault, 9-5; Polson, long jump, 17- 8.5

Sixth place: Polson, 200 m., 24.44; Austin Greenwalt, 110 hurdles, 18.76.

New Prague competed in the Missota Relays on Tuesday, April 30. The team hosts the New Prague Invitational Saturday, May 4, then competes in the Section 1AAA true team meet at Lakeville North on Tuesday, May 7. They compete in a four-team meet at Chanhassen Friday, May 10.
