The Fourth of July celebration in New Prague was saved, thanks to the efforts of two local businesses and many other supporters.
When it looked like time had run out on any possibility of a Fourth of July Fireworks Show in this community, the board of directors at New Prague-Ceska-Louisville Mutual Insurance made a last-ditch effort and saved the day. The company decided to fund a show for the Independence Day holiday. They contacted another local business, RES Specialty Pyrotechnics out of Union Hill about putting on a show in New Prague. While the company was willing, they were not available on July 3 or 4, when such shows are traditionally held. They did have an opening on July 5, however, and treated New Prague area residents to an impressive display of pyrotechnics. What’s more impressive is that, according to a company representative, it was one of 42 shows that they put on during the holiday week.
NPCL is already in the planning stages for a fireworks show next year. Hats off to the company for showing pride in the community and supporting this year’s fireworks, and with a little more than three weeks of planning, they are hoping to improve the experience for area residents. Hats off to New Prague-Ceska-Louisville Mutual Insurance and to RES Specialty Pyrotechnics for helping to continue the tradition and illuminating the skies above New Prague for the Independence Day holiday.
