Buccaneers make it to finals

The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneer volleyball team is one win away from a state championship after defeating Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in four sets in the semifinals of the State Class A volleyball tournament. 

The No. 3-seeded Bucs avenged an earlier loss by defeating the No. 2-seeded Panthers 26-24, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21 Friday afternoon, Nov. 13, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. 

WEM (33-3) has avenged two of its three losses during their playoff run, having beaten Mayer Lutheran in the Section 2A Finals. They get a chance to avenge their third loss at 1 p.m. Saturday when they face Gopher Conference rival and defending state champion Bethlehem Academy (25-7). The Cardinals advanced with a sweep of Heritage Christian in their semifinal match.
