Budget decision expected Monday

The New Prague Area School Board meets Monday, March 23, and is expected to approve $1.02 million in budget adjustments to the 2009-10 general fund budget.

Superintendent Craig Menozzi and Finance Director Dan Pyan last week presented a list of 40 budget adjustments that will help to balance the school budget during a time when increases in enrollment have shrunk and school funding is, at best, expected to remain unchanged.

Among the reductions were cuts to certified staff, paraprofessionals, technicians, clerical workers and custodial staff from the 2008-09 budget.
