Candidate forum; levy session set for Oct. 27

A candidate forum for the 10 candidates seeking five seats on the New Prague Area School Board will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the New Prague High School auditorium.

The school election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The forum will be preceded by a brief presentation and a question-and-answer session on the upcoming school operating levy referendum. That will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Interim Superintendent Larry Kauzlarich will give information on the levy referendum. The district is asking voters to approve a levy of $857 per student, beginning in 2013 and going for five years. The current levy of $757 expires in 2012.

All candidates have been invited to the forum. Each will be given the chance to answer a series of questions that they have received in advance. In addition, audience members will have the opportunity to submit questions in writing. Several questions will be selected and if time allows the candidates will be given the chance to answer them.

The forum is being cosponsored by the New Prague and Lonsdale chambers of commerce. Steph Schmidt of KCHK Radio and Chuck Kajer of The New Prague Times will be moderators.

The forum will either be broadcast live or taped for later broadcast on KCHK.

A Voter's Guide will appear in the October 27 edition of The New Prague Times. Candidate information and levy information will be included.
