CapX construction work restarts Monday
Construction work near New Prague for the CapX2020 project is scheduled to restart on Monday, Aug. 26.
According to Randy Fordice, Project Communications Specialist with Great River Energy/CapX2020, Aldridge Electric, an Illinois subcontractor of CapX2020, has started to remobilize its work force and will resume work about two miles north of New Prague along Scott County Road 2 (260th Street).
Work on the foundations for the 140-foot high-voltage power poles was put on hold on Wednesday, Aug. 14, after an accident that resulted in the death of one worker and the injury of another. Robert Fenstermacher, 28, of Oologah, OK, was killed and Jeremy Moye, 37, of Machesney, IL, was injured, when the strap broke on a cylinder rebar cage the two were on and the cage fell into a 50-foot hole for the foundation. Moye was treated at Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in New Prague and released.
Representatives from Aldridge Electric, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and OSHA have been investigating the incident.
CapX2020 is a high voltage power line project that stretches 250 miles from Bookings, SD, to Hampton in Dakota County.
