Chamber's annual meeting is January 19

The New Prague Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting Monday, Jan. 19, at Lakeside Supper Club.

The meeting begins with a 5:30 p.m. social hour, followed by a business meeting at 6:30 p.m., which includes election of new officers, and dinner at 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., guest speaker will be Darlene (Holec) Miller, president and owner of Permac Industries in Burnsville. The 1967 New Prague High School graduate was named Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2006 and Permac Industries was named the 2008 Small Business of the Year. She is also a member and former board chair of the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce.

There will be an election for two open spots on the chamber's board of directors. Two candidates have applied for the positions. They are Jason Ashley, assistant vice president/business banker at Community Security Bank, and Ron Schoenecker, owner of Ron Schoenecker Agency/ Farmers Insurance and Financial.

Other board members for 2009 are president Sue Gregor of Hairchitects, vice president Chris Kubes of Kubes Realty, secretary/treasurer Ed Kotek of Ace Hardware and Paint, and board members Arlene Kabes of Snap Fitness, Tim O'Neill of O'Neill Brothers and Pat Goggins of Wornson Goggins, Zard, Neisen, Morris and King.

Outgoing board members are Monica Bartyzal of the State Bank of New Prague and Brenda Pint of Community Security Bank.
