Charges filed in bar burglaries
Charges were filed Wednesday, Dec. 26, against a suspect in the burglaries of two New Prague bars during the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 21.
Justen Jeffrey Mosford, 26, of New Prague, was arrested the afternoon after the burglaries. According to the criminal complaint, he was identified through surveillance video. A roommate allowed police to search his apartment, where a case of Coors Light and a case of Red Bull, that had been taken from the City Club Bar that day, were found in the apartment. A further search found clothing matching that of the person in the surveillance video and boots that had a “spider” pattern on the bottom that matched footprints found at the scene of the burglaries.
Mosford faces two counts of burglary and one count of possession of a controlled substance that was found on him at the time of his arrest. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. According to New Prague Police Chief Mark Vosejpka, after the initial charges were filed Mosford was questioned about a similar breakin that occurred December 14 at the Corner Bar in New Prague, and he admitted to that burglary as well. Additional charges are expected to be filed this week.
