Charges filed in burglary, car theft in New Prague

An 18-year-old faces charges in connection with a burglary in New Prague and at least one stolen vehicle after being arrested last week in Montgomery.

Dennis Gilbert Bisek, whose address is listed as Northfield, was arrested by Montgomery police on Monday, Dec. 28, after a vehicle crashed into a ditch in that city. The vehicle, a black 1999 Jeep Cherokee, was reported stolen from an address on First Street NW in New Prague, where the owner had left it in the driveway.

The burglary charges stem from a reported burglary at a residence on Eighth Ave. NW in New Prague on December 9. The homeowner reported two iPads were stolen from inside the house and an Amazon box with two books that were outside on the porch was missing. The homeowner told police that he suspected Bisek, who had lived with them in 2014. There was no sign of forced entry, but he said Bisek had the code to the garage door, which had not been changed since he moved out.

Two days later, a vehicle reported stolen from Maplewood was found in New Prague. Inside the vehicle police found the items stolen in that burglary as well as several other items. On his arrest, Bisek was taken to the Le Sueur County Jail, where he was questioned by New Prague Police and admitted to having been with another person when the vehicle was taken. He stated that he was a passenger in the vehicle.
