City skating rinks are open

New Prague area residents have three outdoor skating rinks to choose from this season. Two are located at the city's Sliding Hill Skate Park, along Columbus Avenue, east of New Prague High School and the third is located next to the New Prague Area Community Center, along 12th Street NW.

The city operates the two rinks at Sliding Hill Skate Park and the New Prague Area Hockey Association oversees the third. The city rinks are open, though rain last week has affected ice quality.

The city is working to hire staff to supervise the new warming house at the city rinks. City Planner Ken Ondich says it is hoped the warming house will be open before the holidays. Read more in the December 16 print edition of The New Prague Times.
