City will consider golf proposal
At a special meeting Monday, Nov. 29, the New Prague City Council will discuss a proposal from Golf Management Enterprises, LLC, to contract with the city for its golf manager's position.
Wade Brod, representing the company, spoke with the golf board at its Tuesday, Nov. 23, meeting. He said the proposal was similar to others where public organizations have privatized such positions to help with their budgets. Brod's firm has a number of advisors, many with ties to New Prague and the course, including former club manager Scott Proshek and Mark Swelland, owner of New Prague Auto Group.
Brod estimated the city could save up to $55,000 if his firm took over management responsibilities, and more if it would take over all operations.
The board referred the matter to the council, who added it to the agenda of its Nov. 29 meeting. The council will also discuss the city's 2011 budget. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
