Clara Hrabe, 85
Clara A. Hrabe, 85, of New Prague, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Clara was born March 2, 1924, at Veseli, a daughter of John and Anna (Kasparek) Simon. She attended the Veseli Parochial School and was a lifelong resident of the Elko and New Prague area. She married Raymond Hrabe on October 23, 1945, at Veseli. Clara was a homemaker and was a former member of the St. Catherine Church CCW. She moved into New Prague in 2001. She loved playing cards, participating in the Tuesday and Thursday Morning Miller's Tap Card Club. Clara also loved cooking and gardening.
She is survived by children Connie (Kenneth) Svoboda, Elko New Market, Cynthia (Martin) Flicek, Jordan and Raymond (Penny) Hrabe, New Prague; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Monica Simon, New Prague, Marion Simon, New Prague, Julia Simon Zweber, New Prague, Ruth Simon, Manchester, MO and Mary Ellen Simek, New Prague.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 23, 1990; her parents; and nine siblings Walter, Charles, John, Frank, Alvin, Adeline Voracek, Ludmilla Trnka, Emma Trenda and Anna Trnka.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.
Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Craig Svoboda, Kyle Svoboda, Tim Flicek, Todd Flicek, Troy Flicek, Jason Hrabe and Lisa Lindner.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
