Clarence C. Roepke, 91

Clarence C. Roepke, 91, of New Prague, died on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Shakopee.

He was born on March 30, 1914, in Kingsley, Woodbury County, Iowa, to Frederick and Ida (Gall) Roepke. Clarence attended Kingsley Elementary School in Kingsley, IA. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served during WWII as a fireman, second class. He was discharged in 1944.

Clarence married Frances C. Olson on November 5, 1955, in Watertown, SD. He was employed by the Sioux City Stockyard Company for 21 years. He moved to New Prague in 1980. His hobby was to own and train race horses that raced at Park Jefferson Race Track located outside of Sioux City.

He is survived by son, Rick (Kathy) Roepke, Bowling Green, KY; daughter, Pam Mowrey, Montgomery; stepdaughter, Connie (John) Pfeil, New Prague; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances, on July 13, 1984; stepson, Danny Pilcher; brothers, Art and Ron Roepke.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Triumphant Life Church in Lonsdale. Rev. Ron Mixer officiated.

Interment was at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.

Visitation was at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague one hour prior to the services.
