Clarence Kosanda, 77

Clarence Kosanda, 77, of Shieldsville, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at his home following a brief illness.

Born on June 9, 1930, in Montgomery, Clarence was a son of Tom and Mayme (Budin) Kosanda. He graduated from Faribault High School and Mankato State University. He married Marian McCullough on May 13, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville. Clarence was self-employed in the trucking business. He also had owned and operated the grocery store in Shieldsville and worked as officer manager for the Highway Department with the State of Minnesota for 28 years. He was a longtime member of the Shieldsville Township Board and was a member of the Faribault Eagles and Elks Clubs, Morristown American Legion and the Faribault Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years; five children Patty (John) Murphy, Lonsdale, Mary (Stan) Lokken, Hayward, WI, Elaine (Mitch) Anderson, Hayward, WI, Deb (Dennis) Morgan, Morristown and Jeff (Darla) Kosanda, Faribault; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen (Ray) Lambert, Faribault; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law Leo and Mayme McCullough.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville, with Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor, officiating.

Interment was at the St. Patrick Church Cemetery, with military honors.

Memorial visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements were with Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.
