The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners considered 12 requests from the planning & zoning commission at its regular meeting held Tuesday, May 10 at the courthouse in Le Center. Eleven of the requests for permits or rezoning were approved, while one, a recommendation to deny, was overturned.

Planning & Zoning Administrator Kathy Brockway presented the following requests for action:

— Pat Baker, Kasota (applicant/owner), a CUP to approve a final plat of a 24-lot subdivision known as Bakersfield Subdivision in a rec residential district of Kasota township.

— Darren Schweiss, New Prague (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a single family dwelling in an ag residential district of Lanesburgh Township. The planning commission recommended denial of the application as it does not comply with the spirit and intent of the ordinance regarding siting criteria in an ag/residential district, but following comments from the audience and board discussion, denial was overturned. Applicant will come back with a new request for a permit.

— Cheryl Trnka, Le Center (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a single family dwelling in a special protection district of Elysian Township.

— Mary & Jeanne Miller, Kasota (applicant/owner), a rezone of 19.78 acres from ag residential district to urban/rural residential district of Kasota Township. Rezone approved 4-1, with Commissioner Doherty voting against what he considered spot zoning.

Some of the CUPs granted have conditions attached.

In other actions or discussions, the board:
