The Le Sueur County Board adopted a resolution at the Tuesday, Sept. 28, meeting, requesting a presidential declaration of a major disaster area because of the heavy rain event occurring in the county September 22-23.
County Administrator/Engineer Darrell Pettis, who presented the resolution in the absence of Emergency Management Director Ann Traxler, said Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has already declared the county a disaster area. Tuesday's resolution is requesting federal resources to aid the recovery from damage caused by the rainfall, which was recorded in the 4- to 7-inch range.
Pettis said four roads in the county remained closed because of the high water or structure damage.
The resolution states (in part), The cost of recovery from this disaster is beyond the resources available with the county
