St. Cloud State University students earned a pair of national awards for best newscast and best sportscast at the Oct. 31-Nov. 2 National Student Electronic Media Convention (NSEMC) in San Antonio, TX. The programs are produced at UTVS, St. Cloud State's student-run cable television station. The winning "UTVS News" entry was anchored by Alyssa Tryggeseth, Buffalo, and Josh Nguyen, St. Paul. News Directors Leah Carr, New Prague, and Lindsey Branwall, Shakopee, were honored with Best Newscast.
A team of students from University of Wisconsin-River Falls took first place in the Holstein class of the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Invitational Dairy Judging Contest Nov. 10 in Louisville, KY. Nineteen teams from campuses across the country participated in the contest. Maria Pieper of New Prague, a dairy science major, was a member of the team.
