Katie Vollmar, daughter of Dr. Bill and Judy Vollmar of New Prague, has been accepted to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, IL. Vollmar graduated from New Prague High School in 2009. She then attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning a bachelor of science degree in animal science in 2013.

Madeline Simon of New Prague, was awarded a $500 scholarship to continue her education in nursing at the Minnesota Directors of Nursing Administration Annual Fall Conference. Simon has been working at Friendship Manor in Shakopee since December, 2007, as a full time employee and attending school part-time. She is currently pursuing her LPN (License Practical Nurse) Degree and is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2016. Madeline plans to continue her education to receive her RN (Registered Nurse) Degree and plans to continue her career in long term care.

Alec Bohn, son of Bill Bohn of Prior Lake and Marcia Bohn of Newnan, GA, took part in the White Coat Ceremony at North Dakota State University on Sept. 21. He is a student in NDSU’s Doctor of Pharmacy program. The White Coat Ceremony is an opportunity to officially welcome students into the profession of pharmacy and instill an attitude of professionalism, honesty and integrity. He is a 2010 graduate of New Prague High School.
