County moves forward with compliance inspections in lakes area
There is $332,800 of Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) grant funding waiting to be put to work in Le Sueur County. Kathy Brockway, Environmental and Planning and Zoning Director told the Le Sueur County Board on Tuesday that this grant funding was received in May of 2015 in order to do a septic inventory on lakes Francis, Rays, Sakatah and Tetonka (FRST). She reminded the Board that the grant expires on December 31, 2018.
"The funding has been sitting there for a year, with no activity, and BWSR is wondering why," said Brockway. "It is necessary to start the inventory process," she added.
According to the County Water Plan, FRST was listed as the next priority after the German-Jefferson inventory was completed. As a result of a unanimous vote, the Board will move ahead with the FRST septic inspection plan.
