Czech Heritage Jr. royalty seek candidates
The Czech Heritage Junior Royalty are beginning their search for interested candidates as Ambassadors for 2018!
Interested candidates can be either boys or girls and must be of some Czech descent. Up to four candidates ages, 9 thru 17 will be crowned and sashed as ‘Junior Ambassadors’, and ‘Ambassadors’. There are no particular school district or address limitations.
The gift package for all Ambassadors includes a crown, sash, one-year optional membership to the Domácí Czech Folk Dancers and a monetary gift after successfully completing their one year reign. New Ambassadors will be crowned at the 2017 Coronation at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.
As Ambassadors, those selected will represent the MN Czech Country and promote their Czech Heritage. Czech Heritage Jr. Royalty Ambassadors make appearances at local parades and pageants, as well as ethnic events both here and in neighboring states. This past year, some of the Ambassadors traveled to the Czech Slovak Festival in Phillips WI and the Czech Polka Festival in West TX. Making these opportunities available will help them develop an appreciation of their heritage and learn more about it. They will also develop their confidence in public appearances by meeting new friends and speaking on stage.
An informational meeting will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 at the New Prague Public Library meeting room. Deadline to apply is November 6. The current 2017 Jr. Royalty Ambassador is Sylvia Lemke, daughter of Amy and Tim Lemke of Belle Plaine. 2017 Little Ambassadors are Aria Beaudin, daughter of Rachel and Tom Beaudin of Lakeville; Ashlyn Simon, daughter of Allie and Travis Simon of LeCenter; Kristin Siebsen, daughter of Jesse and Tim Siebsen of Montgomery; Melanie LeBrun daughter of Natalie Vlasak of New Prague and Ruby Nazzal, daughter of Laura and Mike Nassal of Lonsdale.
