D-R-S season scheduled to start this weekend
The Dakota-Rice-Scott amateur baseball league is scheduled to begin its 67th year Saturday, April 27, provided weather and field conditions cooperate. One game is scheduled for Saturday and six more on Sunday.
New Market will host Veseli at 2 p.m. Saturday in the season opener. On Sunday Webster will be at Elko, Montgomery at Union Hill, New Prague at Prior Lake, Shakopee at Veseli, Lonsdale at St. Patrick and St. Benedict at New Market.
Teams will be competing for the chance to play in the State Class C Baseball Tournament, which this year will be held at Delano and Maple Lake over three weekends, concluding on Labor Day.
Each D-R-S team will play a 23-game schedule except for Elko, which will play 12 league games. Elko plays in the Class B playoffs.
This season's league divisional alignments are: Red - Union Hill, Faribault, Montgomery, Webster and Elko; White - Prior Lake, St. Benedict, Lonsdale and Veseli; and Blue - St. Patrick, New Market, New Prague and Shakopee.
