Dance team brings home 4 trophies from Apple Valley

The New Prague Trojan Dance team opened its season Saturday, Dec. 3, competing in the Apple Valley Invitational, and all four teams walked away with trophies for finishing in the top three of their divisions.

The varsity jazz team placed third of nine teams in the AAA division. Their raw score was 316.

“Judges said the team’s strengths were in Leap and Jump Technique, as well as Placement and Control,” Coach Chris Plambeck said.

The top two teams in this division were Blaine, scoring a 383 and Rogers scoring a 320. The varsity kick team placed second of nine teams, with a final score of 336.

“This score is higher than the team's final two competitions from last year, so they are picking up right where they left off,” Plambeck said. “They scored best in the areas of Visual Effectiveness and Creativity, along with Choreography and Combinations.”

Blaine placed first with a score of 384.

The JV Jazz team placed third of nine teams, with a raw score of 242. Blaine and Rogers were first and second, respectively.

The JV kick team placed third of six teams with a raw score of 203. Blaine and St. Francis earned the top two spots.

The Trojans will return to action Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Lakeville North Invitational. On Thursday, Dec. 15, New Prague will host a Wright County Conference meet at 6:30 p.m. at the high school.
