Dance team competes in first two meets

The New Prague High School Dance team competed in two meets to kick off the season, at Apple Valley High School on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Eastview High School on Saturday, Dec. 9.

At Apple Valley, the Trojans’ varsity high kick team placed third of 13 teams. The Jazz team did not place. The Trojans JV kick team also placed third, and the jazz team placed fourth.

"Each of the routines had good performances and we were happy with our placements considering it was the first time putting the routines on the competitive floor," Coach Frankie McIntyre said. "The dancers have worked extremely hard thus far and we have made huge strides and improvementswe can't wait to continue to get better through the weeks."

At Eastview, none of the Trojan teams placed, but the scores were up a bit from the previous week’s competition.

"We were happy with our performances. We aren't shying away from competing against the big teams because we know it will make us better in the long run," McIntyre said.

The Trojan teams will travel to New London-Spicer Thursday, Dec. 14, for a Wright County Conference High Kick meet. They will compete at the Waconia Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 16. That will be the last meet until after the holidays, when the team competes in the Edina Invitational Saturday, Jan. 6.
