New Prague Area Schools is asking taxpayers for $62.1 million on bonds to purchase land, construct three new buildings, renovate one building, build an addition to the high school and add a swimming pool...People from the various New Prague area churches gathered together for the New Prague Community Thanksgiving Service on November 23...A solution for the sewer systems in New Market and Elko seems to be drawing nearer as the Metropolitan Council recently approved an amendment to its wastewater system plan...New Prague opened its 2004-05 girls basketball season last week with a 61-53 win at Jordan.


December 9



The New Prague City Council held its Truth in Taxation hearing Monday and learned that, given the proposed levy, the city’s tax rate will see a slight decrease...A large crowd attended the annual New Prague Area Community Christmas Concert on Sunday, listening to a variety of music performed by the Hymnus choir and the New Prague Community Band...The New Prague Police Department, along with police agencies in Scott and Carver counties and the Minnesota State Patrol, are participating in Operation NightCAP (Night-time Concentrated Alcohol Patrol), an impaired driving prevention program...New Prague’s gymnastics team opened its season December 2, with an impressive showing, scoring 140.4 to Faribault’s 133.925.

New Prague School District voters said yes Tuesday to a bond referendum to build two new elementary schools and renovate the current intermediate school, but turned down two other questions...Strike Force Bowl owner Darin Pomije, of New Prague, scored the first sanctioned 900 bowling series ever in Minnesota on December 9 making national headlines...The weather may have been wet and rainy for the Holiday Parade of Lights but that didn’t stop the glow from the entries or the large crowd that turned out on Main Street on December 9...The Trojan boys hockey team had two come-from-behind wins last week.

The Phillips family of New Prague will have a very special Christmas this year, now that 10-year-old Nathan is home after spending two months at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital for treatment of a very rare, genetic immune deficiency...New Prague native Keith Deutsch will be featured in an NBC Today Show segment airing Christmas morning about a program in Colorado that teaches injured veterans how to ski and snowboard...The City of Lonsdale took steps to guide the community’s future when it began updating its Comprehensive Plan at the regular council meeting on December 16...New Prague’s gymnastics team did something Friday that hadn’t been done in about 15 years—they beat Lakeville.

With openings on all five of its boards and commissions the City of New Prague is searching for residents to serve on city boards and commissions...The New Prague Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, to consider the city's proposed comprehensive plan update...As part of McScholarship Night New Prague McDonald’s made a donation of $654, to St. Wenceslaus School... New Prague's girls basketball team used a fast-paced offensive attack and strong defense to crush St. Peter 91-48 December 21 and up their record to 7-2.
