Edward E. Sticha, 91

Edward E. Sticha, 91, of New Prague, died at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague on Monday, Dec. 27, 2004.

He was born in New Prague on January 18, 1913, to Frank W. and Elizabeth (Sevcik) Sticha. He attended a district school and later transferred to Veseli Catholic school.

Edward married Anna A. Pexa at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague on May 1, 1933. The Stichas farmed in the Veseli area their entire lives until retirement in 1984. Edward moved to Queen’s Court in New Prague in 1996 and later moved to assisted living at Mala Strana. He enjoyed playing cards and was a great fan of the Minnesota Twins. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2023 and a member of the New Prague Senior Citizens.

He is survived by daughter, Gladys (Alvin) Kaderlik, Montgomery and son, Wilfred (Diane) Sticha, New Prague; grandchildren, Rodney (Deb) Kaderlik, Linda (Dan) Wormer, Lisa (Dan) Mittelstaedt; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Novotny, Adeline Bauer and Elsie Svoboda.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Thursday from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with the Rev. George Freeman officiating.

Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Rodney and Deb Kaderlik, Dan and Linda Wormer and Dan and Lisa Mittelstaedt. Honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel Wormer and Jamie and Matt Mittelstaedt.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
