Elko eliminated in Class B Super Section Tournaments

The Elko Express lost two of three games and was eliminated in the Miesville Super Section Tournament held last weekend.

The host Mudhens team won the four-team Class B playoff.

Four teams were entered in the Super Section playoff: Mankato Twins, Bemidji, Elko and Miesville.

Elko lost its first game to the Twins, 17-0 Friday.

The Express then rebounded and defeated Bemidji, 8-1 Saturday.

Miesville eliminated Elko with a 4-1 loser's bracket game Saturday.

Two teams from each of four Super Section playoffs will play in the opening rounds this Saturday and Sunday in the State Class B tournament.

Games Saturday, all at Hutchinson, have Moorhead playing Burnsville at 11 a.m., Savage taking the field against Mankato at 1:30 p.m., Austin playing Sauk Rapids at 5 p.m., and Mies-ville playing Chaska at 7:30 p.m.

Tournament action continues through August 28 at Brownton and Glencoe, with the championship game scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in Glencoe, with a second game to follow, if necessary.
