Elko wins playoff opener

The Elko Express won the opening game of their Section 1B series, defeating Northfield 5-4.

The Express and Knights are playing a best-of-three series. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Elko.

If a third game is needed, the teams will square off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, in Northfield.

The winner will face either Dundas or Miesville in the second round of the playoffs. 

Elko a member of the D-R-S league, is the only team in the league to play in Class B.
