Elsie Grundhoffer, 95
Elsie Lorraine Grundhoffer, 95, of Montgomery, died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Elsie, a lifetime resident of the Montgomery area, was born on January 20, 1914, in Wheatland Township, a daughter of Joe and Anna (Mixa) Krocak. She attended country school and married Harold John Grundhoffer on November 27, 1934, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. She worked seasonally at Green Giant Co. for 40 years, and also at Spors Company in Le Center and the Turkey Plant in Faribault. She enjoyed canning, garage sales, watching the Twins and Vikings, sewing, word puzzles and crosswords. Elsie was a resident of Central Health Care Center in Le Center since 2006.
She is survived by children Dale, Casper, WY, David (Jane), Montgomery, Marge (Dick) Gregor, Montgomery, Pat (Jerry) Tienter-Viskocil, Bella Vista, AR, Arlene (Gerry) Johnson, Faribault, Mary (Herb) Carman, Eden Prairie and Cindi (Jeff) Davis, Orange, CA; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Grundhoffer, Montgomery; son-in-law James (Mary) Walker, St. Thomas; brother Alvin Krocak, Faribault; 37 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son Donald; daughter Dorothy Walker; daughter-in-law Darcey; son-in-law Joe Viskocil; great-granddaughter Morgan Gregor; brothers Harry, Emil, Arnie, Joseph and Milo; sisters Albina Sticha, Estellene Kaderlik, Mabel Valek and Evelyn Brezina.
Funeral services were held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10:30 a.m.
Burial was at St. Michael's Cemetery in rural Montgomery.
Visitation was held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
