Enjoy our Hometown Holiday

By Chuck Kajer

Each year New Prague finds a number of ways to celebrate the holidays. This weekend will give residents and visitors plenty of activities to choose from.

On Friday the Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the season with its annual Holiday Parade of Lights. The event features a number of local businesses and organizations with lighted parade entries that celebrate the Christmas season. Following the parade, the Chamber and the New Prague Area Community Center will host the annual Skate with Santa event. The event also features a collection of food and cash donations for the Peace Center Food Shelf in New Prague.

On Sunday evening, check out the New Prague Christmas Concert, which this year will be held at St. Wenceslaus Church. The concert gives local musical talent a chance to showcase their musical gifts and share them with the community in the spirit of the season.

Also on Sunday the New Prague Figure Skating Club will present its annual Holiday Exposition at 4 p.m. at the Community Center.

Each of these events has become a holiday tradition in the New Prague area-a reason to gather and enjoy the spirit of the Christmas season.

The New Prague Chamber of Commerce has used the Hometown Holiday theme for several years to promote the community and its businesses during this season. This year the Chamber is encouraging people to shop at its member businesses. By shopping at these businesses, you are helping to support not only these events, but the many other community activities that are supported by the Chamber and by the many other non-profit and service groups that support community activities year-round. And when you do shop New Prague, remember to thank the businesses for supporting our community.
